When you have a hydronic loop, you have a boiler. When you have a boiler you need a way to regulate the hot water entering the loop. Here I introduce the 75F hot water mixing package (HMP). The HMP is designed with a PI loop that modulates the heat injection valve from the boiler loop into the core loop.
This profile has a single set point and that is the target loop temperature. The profile assumes that there is always being hot water supplied and that by opening, or modulating open the heat injection valve, the core loop will heat up.
Equipment
For this profile to work you will need:
- Smart Node
- 10k Type II thermistor
- Modulating Analog Valve
You will get your most accurate reading if the thermistor can be a well sensor, but pipe strap sensors will also work.
Operation
As the loop temp cools down past the target loop temp, the modulating analog output will open the valve and as the loop temp is met, the valve will close.
